Job summary

Holy Cross Hospital – Salt Lake is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Tech I to assist the Pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications with strict accuracy. You will perform calculations, compound non-sterile forms, and manage inventory using systems and automated cabinets in a high-regulation setting.

The role requires initiative, teamwork, and the ability to stay composed under pressure to support patient safety and pharmacist operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Registered Pharmacy Tech in UT.
• Active CPTEXCPT or CPTPTCB or CPHT certification in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties of a pharmacy technician in accordance with established policies and procedures related to the preparation and distribution of medication.
• Restock medication dispensing cabinets and fill first doses.
• Deliver medications to patients as needed.
• Assist in narcotic distribution and discrepancy resolution.
• Ensure current dating of all supplies and medications and maintain records per regulations.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Certified Pharmacy Tech I, you will assist the Pharmacist in all operations related to medication preparation and distribution, where extreme accuracy and meticulous attention to detail are paramount.

Every day, you will accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations, compound non-sterile dosage forms, and effectively utilize inventory management systems and automated dispensing cabinets. Operating in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and often high-stress environment with constant interruptions, you will leverage your high-level security clearance to access all medication storage areas, procedural areas, and surgical suites. You must strictly abide by all state and federal regulations, including stringent record-keeping and infection prevention standards, while consistently prioritizing work to respond to acute critical patient needs alongside scheduled duties.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and a strong willingness to work as a cohesive member of a team. Your ability to accurately prepare medications, manage inventory, navigate a highly regulated environment, and maintain composure under pressure will be crucial in supporting our pharmacists and ensuring patient safety.
