Job summary

Jobtailor in Germantown, MD seeks a Pharmacy Support Technician to handle inbound calls, obtain prescription information, and manage order queues in a fast-paced specialty pharmacy environment.

You will ensure accurate dispensing data, assist pharmacists, verify patient demographics and history, maintain inventory, and comply with federal/state laws and ethical standards. Previous CPhT certification is preferred; a stable weekday schedule is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent preferred.
• National CPhT and/or state registration/licensure required per resident state.
• Minimum two years pharmacy support experience or healthcare environment experience preferred.
• Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives.
• Ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees.
• M-F 8am to 6pm work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls from patients, prescribers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Contact doctors to obtain necessary prescription information to properly fill prescriptions.
• Manage queues and work oldest orders first.
• Ensure correct shipment of specialty pharmacy orders.
• Assist pharmacists in obtaining information for dispensing and adjudicating medications correctly.
• Translate prescription and dispensing information accurately into pharmacy dispensing software.
• Select medications, attach prescription labels, and ensure prescription information is packaged before pharmacist final check.
• Obtain and verify patient demographics, allergies, medication history, comorbidities, and payer information.
• Maintain adequate pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, receiving, verifying orders, and stocking pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Assist other facility areas with technician duties as needed.
• Act in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and ethical standards.
