Job summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in Gilbert, AZ is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician (Admixture) to join our team. The role focuses on sterile compounding, IV admixtures, and chemotherapy, with responsibilities spanning order review, dosage accuracy, and inventory management.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of pharmacy experience, strong aseptic technique knowledge, precise math skills, and excellent communication. Travel between Ironwood locations is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of pharmacy experience required, including sterile compounding (IV admixture and/or chemotherapy).
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and pharmaceutical terminology.
• Solid math and dosage calculation skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to interpret prescriptions and follow protocols accurately.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with inventory control, purchasing, and dispensing systems.
• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and compound medications, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy, under supervision.
• Review medication orders for accuracy, completeness, and authorization.
• Verify insurance approvals before preparing medications.
• Accurately calculate dosages and conversions (metric/apothecary systems).
• Maintain inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
• Keep detailed logs (temperature, controlled substances, protocol drugs, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety guidelines for medication handling and disposal.
• Clean and maintain sterile compounding environments (hoods, equipment).
• Stay current with new medications and protocols.
• Travel between locations as needed.
