Job summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in Gilbert, WV seeks a Pharmacy Technician (Admixture) to assist in preparing IV admixtures and chemotherapy under supervision. You will review orders, verify insurance approvals, and perform precise dosage calculations while maintaining rigorous inventory control and documentation.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of pharmacy experience in sterile compounding, strong aseptic technique, and attention to detail to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of pharmacy experience, including sterile compounding (IV admixture and/or chemotherapy)
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and pharmaceutical terminology
• Solid math and dosage calculation skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
• Ability to interpret prescriptions and follow protocols accurately
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Oncology experience
• Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB preferred)
• Experience with inventory control, purchasing, and dispensing systems
• Retail pharmacy experience a plus
• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program

Responsibilities

• Prepare and compound medications, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy, under supervision
• Review medication orders for accuracy, completeness, and authorization
• Verify insurance approvals before preparing medications
• Accurately calculate dosages and conversions (metric/apothecary systems)
• Maintain inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications
• Keep detailed logs (temperature, controlled substances, protocol drugs, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety guidelines for medication handling and disposal
• Clean and maintain sterile compounding environments (hoods, equipment)
• Stay current with new medications and protocols
• Travel between locations as needed

What You'll Do:
