Job Description

Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different (omit) general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice.

  1. Demonstrates the ability to work competently in both general and specialized pharmacy practice areas.
  2. Participates in the training of new employees.
  3. Fills and delivers medications under supervision.
  4. Follows policies and procedures consistently.
  5. Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
  6. Triages and escalates questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
  7. Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
  8. Maintains quality assurance according to departmental and legal standards.
  9. Operates pharmacy equipment properly.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Compensation Range

$20.68 - $32.05 Hourly

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum 6 months relevant experience
  • License/Certification: Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required; CPhT credential through NHA or PTCB required. For hires prior to Feb 1, 2020, certification required by Jan 31, 2022.
Physical Demands

Standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail. Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20 lbs.
