CPS, part of the Optum family, is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for The Brook Hospital - KMI and The Brook-Dupont Circle in Kentucky. You will assist under a licensed pharmacist with dispensing, order entry, and inventory.

The role features a 40-hour work week in a hospital environment with modern systems. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and hospital or retail pharmacy experience, plus strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Process prescription orders accurately in pharmacy systems.
  • Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers to support workflow.
  • Prepare and compound medications following hospital protocols.
  • Process EMR/EHR medication orders with accuracy and urgency.
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas and nursing units.
  • Maintain medication inventory and monitor expiration dates.
  • Support medication safety initiatives and documentation.

As a full time, nonexempt Pharmacy Technician withOptum/CPSat The Brook Hospital - KMI,and The Brook-Dupont Circle, you will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications;procuring drugs; and billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.

This position will be scheduled 40 hours per week

About the Facility:

The Brook Hospital - KMI is a 98 bed, Joint Commission accredited facility that offers psychiatric and substance abuse treatment for adolescents ages 5-17, adults and seniors. Adolescent services include Psychiatric Inpatient, Extended Care Inpatient, Substance Use Treatment & Recovery Rehabilitation (STAR), Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Dual Diagnosis Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Psychiatric Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Substance Use Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient (IOP). Adult services Psychiatric Inpatient, Substance Use Inpatient,Substance Use Rehabilitation, Transitional Residential Living House for Men (TL House) and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ETC).

The Dupont location is all adult admissions

About the Pharmacy:

The pharmacy is open Monday-Friday from 7:30AM to 4:00PM. The pharmacy utilizes Omnicell automated cabinets, HCS pharmacy order entry services, CPOE and EMAR.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Prepare and compound medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards
  • Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
  • Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation

Required Qualifications:

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
