Job Description

As a Licensed Pharmacy Technician, you will perform the following essential duties:

  • Prescription Processing: Collaborate with the registered pharmacist to accurately process prescriptions and dispense over-the-counter medications in compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Data Entry and Verification: Enter and verify prescription information into pharmacy computer systems with precision to ensure accuracy and completeness of all records.
  • Billing and Insurance Administration: Process insurance claims, manage billing transactions, and maintain organized documentation in accordance with pharmacy protocols.
  • Payment Processing: Receive patient payments and operate the cash register with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Inventory Management: Stock, store, and manage pharmacy inventory, including controlled substances documentation, while maintaining full compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Medication Preparation and Coordination: Prepare and label medications according to pharmacist instructions, respond to prescription-related inquiries, coordinate with healthcare providers, and ensure adherence to HIPAA requirements and all applicable privacy regulations.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Previous retail pharmacy of at least 6 months, preferred.
  • Typing skills of 25 wpm.
  • Ability to operate a cash register, calculator and computer.
  • Ability to maintain (lift, carry, stack) up to 40 lbs. of pharmacy inventory.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
Certifications/Licensures Required
  • Valid State of MI pharmacy technician licensure.
