Job summary

ChristianaCare is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to join our top hospital pharmacy team in Delaware. The role features full-time day/evening rotating shifts, with every other weekend and holiday requirements.

You will assist pharmacists, handle cart fills, IV preparations with aseptic technique, and manage automated dispensing cabinets. PTCB certification within 1 year is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• PTCB certification required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• Applicants with Pharmacy Technician experience encouraged and will be required to obtain PTCB certification within 1 year of employment.
• Applicants enrolled or graduate of a 4-year bachelor program in health science majors encouraged and will be required PTCB certification within 1 year of employment.
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Computer experience preferred (e.g., window-based programs).
• Basic typing skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in providing timely, efficient, cost effective, and appropriate pharmaceutical care to the patient.
• Refill patient medication bins through robot cart fill and manual picks; update carts with new orders and transfers.
• Deliver and exchange 24-hour cart fill to nursing units at scheduled times; ensure proper stock of medications.
• Reorder medications in short supply and restock picking stations and other areas.
• Send prepared medications via pneumatic tube system or deliver to nursing units as needed.
• Manage automated dispensing cabinet inventory and ensure proper storage of in-date medications.
• Receive and check incoming supplier orders and prepare IV medications using aseptic techniques per USP 795/797/800.
• Use PPE and closed system transfer devices when preparing chemotherapy and hazardous meds.
