Job summary

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for a full-time assignment at a correctional facility in Sacramento, CA. The role supports Pharmacists by processing prescriptions, preparing medications, labeling, and maintaining patient profiles in accordance with laws.

Requirements include a California Pharmacy Technician license and at least one year of licensed experience. Schedule is Mon-Fri, 7:30am-4:00pm, with 40 hours per week and orientation days. Local and Traveler pay options apply.

Qualifications

• Must have 1 year of experience as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

• Receive prescription/medical orders.
• Establish patient profiles with diagnoses, allergies, and history.
• Assess orders for completeness and legality.
• Enter prescription information into patient profiles.
• Calibrate equipment to prepare medication orders.
• Compound medications as prescribed and prepare for dispensing.
• Measure or count finished dosage forms.
• Record preparation of medications and controlled substances.
• Package prepared medications and label containers.
• Record checks during processing of orders.

Position Details:

• 40 Hours per week
• Location: Sacramento, CA
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm
• (3 days Orientation)
• Rate: $20/hr ($800/week) asLocal$22/hr ($880/week) asTraveler

• Must have a Pharmacy Technician license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
• Must have 1-Full year of experience as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician.

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Pharmacist-in-Charge, Pharmacist, or designee, Temporary/Relief Pharmacy Technician shall provide services as permitted within the scope of practice for a Pharmacy Technician, in accordance with Federal and State laws and regulations and Institution’s policies and procedures. Minimum requirements and services to be provided by the Temporary/Relief Pharmacist Technician under this Agreement include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. a. Receive prescription/medical orders;
2. b. Obtain information on new patient/youth to establish patient medical profile, such as diagnosis or desired therapeutic outcome, allergies, adverse reaction(s), and medical history;
3. c. Assess prescription/medication order for completeness, correctness, authenticity, and legality;
4. d. Enter prescription information onto patient/youth profile;
5. e. Calibrate equipment needed to prepare or compound the prescription/medication order;
6. f. Compound medications for dispensing according to prescription formula or instructions;
7. g. Measure or count finished dosage forms for dispensing;
8. h. Record preparation of medication in various dosage forms;
9. i. Record preparation of controlled substances for dispensing;
10. j. Package the preparation;
11. k. Prepare and affix label(s) and auxiliary label(s) to container(s);
12. l. Perform intermediate checks of the prescription/medication order during processing;
