Job summary

Arcare is seeking a Pharmacy Technician/Courier to support the Pharmacist in Charge by preparing medications and ensuring efficient delivery and receipt of medications and supplies. This hybrid role requires adherence to USP 797 standards and robust inventory management.

The position supports patient homes and clinics with safe, compliant delivery, documentation, and quality checks. A high school diploma is required, and the organization emphasizes a strong commitment to safety and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
  • Compound intravenous medications according to USP 797 standards.
  • Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests.
  • Clean, and help maintain equipment and work areas, and sterilize glassware according to prescribed methods.
  • Order, label, and count stock of medications, chemicals, and supplies, and enter inventory data into computer.
  • Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
  • Mix pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions.
  • Inspect medical areas and maintains storage standards set by health regulation agencies.
  • Answers telephone for patient calls and questions.
  • Processed returns to pharmaceutical companies as needed.
  • Completes daily reports as required by policy.
  • Knowledge and adherence to Safety and Infection Control requirements.
  • Safe and efficient delivery of medications and supplies to patient homes and clinics.
  • Ensure all documentation is signed upon delivery to ensure compliance of policies.
  • Assist in performing quality check on packaged shipments and deliveries.
  • Monitor vehicle checks, i.e., maintenance, insurance & registration up to date.
  • Sanitization of returned equipment.
  • Assess patient homecare settings, relay any prominent information to direct supervisor.
  • Cleans and logs cleaning and temperature of refrigerated coolers used for deliveries.

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician/Courier is a hybrid role that works under the direction and supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge to prepare medications and provide other health care products under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist as well as ensure efficient delivery/receipt of medications and supplies.

Essential Functions:

Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.

Compound intravenous medications according to USP 797 standards.

Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests.

Clean, and help maintain equipment and work areas, and sterilize glassware according to prescribed methods.
