Job summary

Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin is seeking a Pharmacy Technician - Clinical for 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) at Capitol Clinic. You will assist pharmacists in providing professional pharmacy services under supervision of the Clinical Pharmacist and Program Manager.

The role emphasizes patient-centered care, accurate medication handling, and collaboration with a team in a community-based cooperative with over 50 years of service.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; tech training desirable.
  • Valid CPhT certification from PTCB.
  • Pharmacy experience required.
  • Ability to use MS Office, pharmacy software and EMR.
  • Order entry, inventory control, billing and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of medical records and documentation requirements.
  • Strong math skills and ability to perform calculations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; consult with patients and staff.
  • Maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; culturally sensitive.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Team player with good working relationships.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality; HIPAA knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in the provision of professional pharmacy services.
  • Work under supervision of Clinical Pharmacist and Program Manager.
  • Assist with daily tasks in clinic settings.
  • Support order entry, inventory, and billing processes.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA.

The Pharmacy Technician - Clinical assists pharmacists in the provision of professional pharmacy services in GHC-SCW clinics. The Pharmacy Technician - Clinical works under the general guidance and daily supervision of the Clinical Pharmacist and the Clinical Pharmacist Program Manager.

JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program is desirable.
  2. Valid Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  3. Pharmacy experience is required.
  4. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and use computer based applications such as MS Office, pharmacy and electronic medical record systems.
  5. Ability to use or learn to use computers for order entry, inventory control, billing and record keeping.
  6. Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation requirements.
  7. Knowledge of basic math and algebra. Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
  8. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and consult with patients, practitioners and internal staff.
  9. Ability to maintain quality, safety and /or infection control standards.
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak and listen in person and on the phone.
  11. Excellent customer service skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to be culturally sensitive and work with a diverse patient population and workforce.
  12. Ability to pay close attention to detail and problem solve.
  13. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  14. Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  15. Ability to work as member of a team and to maintain good working relationships with patients and staff.
  16. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation requirements. Knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
  17. Ability to adhere to department and position's punctuality and attendance standards.
  18. Ability to provide own transportation to various work locations, as needed.
