Job description

Pharmacy Technician, Certified or Trainee - Acute Care Pediatrics 100% PM

Under general pharmacist supervision, coordinates and performs technical activities in dispensing areas. Supports development, coordination, and training of assigned areas under the supervision of a technician supervisor. Provides functional supervision as needed. Shifts are 8 hours between 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, every other weekend.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inventory management in satellites and dispensing areas, including emergency supplies.
  • Reviewing medication inventory for expirations.
  • Maintaining medication levels according to established par levels.
  • Managing inpatient Epic In-Baskets: printing labels, preparing medications, documenting activities, and managing discharge medications.
  • Delivering and returning medications to/from patient care areas.
  • Ensuring medication security, including controlled substances.
  • Maintaining accurate records of medication distribution and dispensing.
  • Using equipment like laminar flow hoods, label printers, automated dispensing systems (OmnicellXT, MTS-350, Med Carousel).
  • Maintaining cleanliness and quality assurance in sterile compounding areas.
  • Compounding sterile and non-sterile products, including hazardous medications.
  • Conducting inspections and assisting with training.
  • Managing narcotics and controlled substances inventories.
  • Refilling OmnicellXT Medstations following proper procedures.

Note: Hiring for either Technician Trainee (Pay Grade 8) or Certified Technician (Pay Grade 10). Indicate your preference in your application.

Minimum eligibility for Trainee Technician:

  • Registered with the Pharmacy Board at hire.
  • Certification within one year of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of post-high school experience in sciences or completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program.

Minimum eligibility for Certified Technician:

  • Registered with the Pharmacy Board at hire.
  • Certified through PTCB or NHA, with ongoing education.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience or education in sciences or completion of an accredited program.

Additional qualifications: Ability to calculate ratios & proportions; experience with inventory, teamwork, detail-oriented work, computer skills, and patient interaction. Preference for Silver Level National Career Readiness Certificate.
