Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered to join our pharmacy team. The role supports pharmacists by transporting medications and supplies, maintaining inventory, and keeping a clean, compliant environment.

You must be registered with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy or be a trainee, with up to 6 months to obtain certification (PTCB or ExCPT) supported by reimbursement upon successful completion.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered.
• Expected to obtain PTCB or ExCPT certification within 6 months of hire; certification cost reimbursed.
• Day shift and availability for weekend/holiday rotations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in training of new pharmacy assistants as needed.

Job Description Summary

Transports medications and supplies to pharmacies, enables partners to perform their duties in an effective manner, and maintains inventory and a clean pharmacy environment.

Essential Functions

• Complies with USP 795, 797, and 800, and relevant regulatory standards for medication handling.
• Contributes to training of new pharmacy assistants when appropriate.
• Transports medications and supplies safely, timely, and accurately to their designated destinations.
• Performs drug inventories, rotations, and stock management, including sorting, unpacking, and restocking medications.
• Adheres to isolation and radiation precautions and utilizes proper body mechanics when handling medications.
• Communicates using customer-friendly phone skills and appropriately directs customer concerns.
• Maintains a clean and orderly pharmacy and maintains accurate and timely documentation of completed tasks in designated record keeping systems.

Education Requirement

High school diploma or equivalent, required.
