Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice for the inpatient setting. You will work under a pharmacist, gaining hands-on experience in medication packaging, preparation, distribution, inventory control and pharmacy records.

During a 12-month program, you will study and complete the Pharmacy Technology diploma from the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm, with no weekends or holidays,

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire.
  • Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy; certification as CPhT within 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications (selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding).
  • Deliver medications to storage locations.
  • Maintain inventories of medications and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area in compliance with procedures and regulations.
  • Document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs and training.
  • Attend and participate in team huddles and meetings.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete tasks.
  • Maintain standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per policy.

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will function as a trainee and gain knowledge in packaging, preparing and distributing medications, inventory control, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records. After 12 months, you will have successfully completed and received a diploma in Pharmacy Technology from the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program.

A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm on a 16-week program. No weekends or holidays required. This role pays $17/hour.

  • Attend and actively participate in team huddles and meetings.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology Program per the student handbook.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire
  • Upon hire, registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 12 months
  • Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 12 months
Physical Requirements:
  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
