Job summary

J&B Medical in Wixom, Michigan is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our closed-door pharmacy operation. This full-time position offers a 40-hour workweek with no late nights, no weekends, and no holidays.

The technician will prepare prescriptions and related products, maintain inventory, enter data into the system, handle orders and shipments, and assist patients by phone, email, and electronic messaging under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pharmacy technician training course or on-the-job training.
• Michigan pharmacy license and state licensing as required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Summary: The Pharmacy Technician will perform many pharmacy-related functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and perform administrative functions as required per job duties.

Essential Functions

• Prepares prescriptions and products (blood glucose monitors and supplies, heat and cold applications, insulin infusion pumps, insulin infusion pump supplies, nebulizer equipment and supplies, and surgical dressings) for dispensing by the pharmacist and fills stock replacements
• Makes requisitions for drugs, products and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacist.
• Orders, receives, and maintains inventory of drugs, products, and chemicals and ensures their security.
• Helps maintain an orderly, clean environment including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies.
• Enters data into the computer system, recording prescriptions, purchase orders, stock orders, requisitions, and disbursements.
• Under direction of the pharmacist, removes unneeded or outdated drugs or products from stock and prepares for return or proper disposal per regulatory guidelines.
• Performs general clerical duties for the department.
• Ability to enter data into a computer to maintain records.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work independently/take initiative to solve problems
• Packages and ships medications and products for delivery
• Interacts with patients via phone, email, and electronic message within the pharmacy system to answer questions and resolve complaints
• Yearly training as required in both the pharmacy Pestle compliance system and the compliance training on the J&B Medical Wiki page.

Position Type

This is a full-time position; 40-hour minimum, with the expectation to maintain a regular work schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Pharmacy Technician.
• Successful completion of a pharmacy technician training course or a minimum of one year of on-the-job training.
• Pharmacy Tech Michigan License required.
• State licensing, as required.
• Intermediate-advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Background check & Drug testing.
