Responsibilities

Working under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s), the pharmacy technician assists in all pharmacy operations’ functions related to:

• Preparation & distribution of all doses of medication
• Maintenance of drug inventories (e.g., re‑stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, drug packaging/re‑packaging, extemporaneous compounding, code cart re‑stock, etc.)
• Preparation of oncology drugs

Position Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or G.E.D. and one (1) to two (2) years supervised training or study required; courses in mathematics necessary.

Experience / Specialized Skills / Aptitudes

Verbal ability is necessary to understand physician’s orders and terminology for transcribing information onto a patient’s profile, also for labeling IV solutions and prescriptions. Adhere strictly to established practices.

PA pharmacy technician trainee registration
