Job summary

The Pharmacy Technician at Mercy Hospital, part of Catholic Health, assists the Pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications to patient care units on Long Island.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, NYS Pharmacy Technician license, and Pharmacy Technician certification; hospital experience is preferred. This role supports safe medication handling and efficient unit-dose distribution across care areas.

Qualifications

• Certified Pharmacy Technician with NYS license required.
• Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pharmacist in preparation and distribution of meds to patient care units.
• Use electronic medical record system to generate medication reports.
• Check expiration dates on medications and supplies.
• Assemble and prepare parenteral medications.
• Fill medication cassettes and labels; deliver meds to care areas.
• Maintain floor stock and Pyxis inventory; manage stock control.
• Pre-pack medications in ready-to-use formats; maintain prep equipment.
• Maintain and service equipment used for compounding meds.

Job Details

The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist in the preparation and distribution of medications to patient care units.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes electronic medical record system to generate reports for medication fill.
• Check expiration dates of medications.
• Assembles and prepares parenteral medications.
• Fills medication cassettes and medication labels.
• Delivers medications to patient care areas.
• Maintains floor stock/Pyxis
• Inventory control.
• Pre-packs medications in ready-to-use format.
• Maintains equipment that are used for preparing and compounding medications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Pharmacy Technician certification required
• NYS Pharmacy Technician license required
• Experience working in a hospital preferred

Salary Range

USD $33.94 - USD $33.94 /Hr.
