Job summary

Calvary Hospital in the Bronx is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support unit-dose packaging, IV preparation, and medication delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. The role involves providing technical support across drug distribution; lifting cartons of 25–30 pounds is not unusual at the Bronx Campus.

Responsibilities include operating unit-dose packaging equipment, preparing records, labeling, delivering medications to Nursing Stations, and assisting with inventory

Qualifications

• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician from a nationally accredited program (e.g., PTCB or NHA).
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the New York State Board preferred.
• Previous training in unit dose systems and IV preparation is preferred.
• Ability to perceive differences in similarly named products.
• Finger dexterity and mechanical aptitude in operation and maintenance of unit dose machines and typing.
• Must be precise and accurate.
• Must be able to perform short cycle repetitive activities.
• Ability to occasionally lift heavy boxes (approximately 25-30 pounds).
• Exhibits an ability and attitude relative to the spirit of caring and tradition at Calvary Hospital as required by specific job duties and functions.

• Picks up medication orders from Nursing Stations.
• Counts dosage units of medications.
• Sets up IV and IVPB additives under supervision for compounding by a Pharmacist.
• Prepares the automated dispensing cabinet fill list for a pharmacist to check.
• Refills automated dispensing cabinets with bar code verification.
• Identifies medications and IV solutions that have expired and segregates them from in-date
