Calvary Hospital in the Bronx is seeking a Pharmacy Technician (Per Diem) to assist in packaging, labeling, preparation, and delivery of pharmaceutical products under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The role includes providing technical support across drug distribution and clerical functions, with occasional lifting of 25–30 pounds.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician from a nationally accredited program (PTCB or NHA).
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with NYS Board of Pharmacy preferred.
• Experience in unit dose systems and IV preparation preferred.
• Ability to perceive differences in similarly named products.
• Finger dexterity and mechanical aptitude for unit dose machines and typing.
• Must be precise and accurate.
• Must be able to perform short cycle repetitive activities.
• Ability to occasionally lift heavy boxes (25–30 pounds).
• Demonstrates caring and tradition aligned with Calvary Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Operates unit-dose packaging equipment under pharmacist supervision.
• Prepares medication packaging records/logs for pharmacist review and sign-off.
• Caps and seals products prepared in Pharmacy under supervision for unit dose meds.
• Fills in unit dose picking station medication supplies.
• Delivers medication to Nursing Stations (including IVs).
• Picks up returns to Pharmacy at Nursing Stations.
• Picks up medication orders from Nursing Stations.
• Counts dosage units of medications.
• Sets up IV and IVPB additives under supervision for pharmacist compounding.
• Prepares automated dispensing cabinet fill list for pharmacist check.
• Refills automated dispensing cabinets with barcode verification.
• Identifies medications and IV solutions that have expired and segregates them from in-date items.
