Red River Pharmacy LTC is seeking a dependable Long-Term Care (LTC) Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists with preparation, processing, packaging, and distribution of medications for long-term care facilities while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with processing and filling prescriptions for long-term care patients.
  • Enter and update prescription, patient, facility, insurance, and medication information in the pharmacy system.
  • Prepare, package, label, and organize medications for pharmacist verification.
  • Assist with cycle fills, routine orders, new admissions, refills, and medication changes.
  • Process medication discontinuations and changes per pharmacy procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with facilities, nurses, prescribers, and pharmacy staff.
  • Prepare medications and orders for scheduled deliveries.
  • Assist with inventory management and stock rotation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow HIPAA and state/federal regulations and protect patient confidentiality.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–6:30 PM

Position Summary


Red River Pharmacy LTC is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Long-Term Care (LTC) Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The LTC Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists with the preparation, processing, packaging, and distribution of medications for long-term care facilities while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and excellent customer service.


The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and committed to providing quality pharmacy services to the facilities and patients we serve.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Assist pharmacists with processing and filling prescriptions for long-term care patients.

  • Accurately enter and update prescription, patient, facility, insurance, and medication information in the pharmacy system.

  • Prepare, package, label, and organize medications for pharmacist verification.

  • Assist with cycle fills, routine medication orders, new admissions, refills, and medication changes.

  • Process medication discontinuations and other changes received from facilities according to pharmacy procedures.

  • Communicate professionally with long-term care facilities, nurses, prescribers, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare personnel as needed.

  • Prepare medications and orders for scheduled deliveries.

  • Assist with inventory management, including stocking medications and supplies and monitoring inventory as assigned.

  • Check medications and supplies for expiration dates and properly rotate stock.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy work area.

  • Follow pharmacy policies and procedures as well as applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations.

  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.

  • Work closely with pharmacists and other pharmacy team members to ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.

  • Assist with other pharmacy duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications


  • Must have a current and valid Texas Pharmacy Technician license/registration.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Ability to follow instructions, policies, and pharmacy procedures.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous pharmacy technician experience.

  • Previous long-term care pharmacy experience.

  • Experience with pharmacy management or prescription-processing software.

  • Familiarity with medication packaging, cycle fills, insurance billing, and long-term care pharmacy operations.


Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a regular schedule of:


Monday–Friday | 9:30 AM–6:30 PM


Employees must be able to maintain reliable attendance and work their assigned schedule.


Physical & Work Requirements

The position may require prolonged periods of standing or sitting, frequent computer use, repetitive tasks associated with prescription processing and medication packaging, and the ability to move or handle pharmacy supplies within reasonable workplace requirements.
