Job summary

PharmD on Demand seeks a Pharmacy Technician for Effingham Hospital in Springfield, GA on an as-needed (PRN) basis. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is detail-oriented, and willing to assist where needed.

Qualifications

• Current pharmacy technician licensure in the applicable state(s).
• Hospital and retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist in providing medications and pharmaceutical services to patients and hospital staff.
• Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medications and supplies.
• Performs dosage calculations as needed when filling prescriptions for diverse patient populations.
• Maintains inventory of supplies in pharmacy and other departments and reorders as needed.
• Communicates effectively with hospital staff by phone and in person as directed by the pharmacist.
• Supports sterile compounding and chemotherapy-related tasks including clean room training and space maintenance.
• Delivers medications to designated locations as required.
• Keeps automated dispensing cabinets stocked and organized.

Job Description:

We’re seeking an experienced pharmacy technician to join our team at Effingham Hospital in Springfield, GA on an as needed basis (PRN). The ideal candidate is someone who works well in a team environment, detail-oriented, and willing to assist where necessary. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists the pharmacist in providing medication, drug information, and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital personnel
• Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies
• Demonstrates an ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filling various prescriptions ranging from the newborn to the elderly populations
• Maintains inventory of supplies in pharmacy and other departments and reorders them accordingly
• Answers the phone and communicates effectively with hospital staff as directed by the pharmacist
• Performs tasks related to sterile compounding and compounding chemotherapy, including but not limited to clean room training, cleaning, and maintaining the space
• Prepares and delivers medications to designated locations based on end-user need
• Maintains stock in the automated dispensing cabinet

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current pharmacy technician licensure in the applicable state(s)
• Prefer both hospital and retail experience
