Job summary

Corrections pharmacy professional in Springfield, MO, helps ensure safe and effective medication care for individuals preparing for reentry into our communities. This role emphasizes adherence to pharmacy standards and coordination with medical staff.

Qualified candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (or 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses) and at least one year of specialized experience. Military pharmacy training and hospital/retail experience may count toward the requirement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with major in pharmacy or 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or pharmaceutical firms or laboratories.
  • Credit for paid or unpaid experience; report actual time spent in activities.
  • Armed Forces pharmacy training creditable month-for-month up to one year of experience.
  • Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature, dosages, weights and measures, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:

  • Education:
    • Successful completion of a full 4‑year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy‑related courses.
  • Experience:
    • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
    • Experience must have equipped the applicant with particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
    • May have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories.
    • NOTE: Successful completion of pertinent specialized training courses in pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices while serving in the Armed Forces is creditable on a month‑for‑month basis up to the one (1) year of specialized experience required for GL‑5.
    • Experience must have provided a basic knowledge of: Pharmaceutical nomenclature; characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals; pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
    • If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.
  • Combination of Education and Experience:
    • Have a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above.
