Qualifications

• Formal Pharmacy Training Program with at least 240 hours and internship completed.
• State Pharmacy Technician License.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Knowledge of pharmacy procedures, safety and infection control.
• Ability to relate effectively with Physicians and peers.
• Ability to recognize and report changes in patient condition; administer medication.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff pharmacist in ordering, stocking, and dispensing medications while observing budget and formulary constraints.
• Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion per safety guidelines.
• Assist in maintaining stock of medications in main, satellite pharmacies and Pyxis systems.
• Assist the Pharmacist in preparing unit dose or pre-packaged medications.
• Complete Pharmacy Competency Module and stay updated on formulary changes.
• Maintain and re-stock Night Stock cabinet and audit automated dispensing systems.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmacy software and computer systems.
• Participate in Quality Assurance activities as directed by the Pharmacist or HSA.

Job description

NEEDED: Pharmacy Technician

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA 90012

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8 hours

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have completed a formal Pharmacy Training Program with at least 240 hours of course credit, Satisfactorily completed internship
• Hold a State Pharmacy Technician License.
• Must have a current CPR/BLS certification
• Must have knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures to perform job activities on various types of medical equipment and automated systems and of safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment.
• Possess the ability to relate and deal effectively with Physicians, peers, and others;
• Ability to recognize, report, and record changes in patient’s physical and emotional condition; and to administer medication.

JOB DUTIES:

• Assist the staff pharmacist in ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications while demonstrating knowledge of the budgetary guidelines and BOP Formulary constraints.
• Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Assist the pharmacist in maintaining stock of up-to-date medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the main pharmacy, satellite pharmacy, crash carts, emergency bags and Pyxis (Automated Dispensing Systems).
• Assist the Pharmacist in preparing unit dose or pre-packaged medications.
• Complete and maintain competency as indicated by the ability to complete the Pharmacy Competency Module while maintaining knowledge of BOP Formulary and any changes to this document.
• Maintain and re-stock adequate supplies for the “Night Stock” cabinet, and perform audits of the “Night Stock” or Automated Dispensing System.
• Possess a working knowledge and maintain technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues.
• Must participate in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the Pharmacist or HSA.
