Pharmacy Technician
Location: Nevada Department of Corrections, Las Vegas NV
Schedule: 6:30am - 3:00pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Compensation: up to $23.00/depending on experience
Reliable Health Care Services is seeking an experiencedPharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations at theNevada Department of Corrections.
The Pharmacy Technician will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and provide technical support with prescription processing, medication preparation, inventory management, medication storage, and day-to-day pharmacy operations.
This position requires a dependable, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable working independently in a structured institutional environment. Correctional pharmacy experience is preferred; however, candidates with nursing home, long-term care, hospital, or other institutional pharmacy experience are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process prescriptions and practitioner medication orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Prepare and fill prescriptions accurately and efficiently in accordance with pharmacy procedures and applicable regulations
- Receive and respond to telephone and email requests from nursing staff regarding medications, prescription status, floor stock, and other pharmacy-related needs.
- Prepare and fill floor stock medication and supply orders for designated units and medication rooms
- Maintain pharmacy inventory, monitor stock levels, rotate inventory, and assist with ordering medications and supplies as needed
- Receive pharmacy deliveries, verify and put away orders, and maintain medications and supplies in designated storage areas
- Inspect medication storage areas and assist with medication room inspections to support appropriate storage, security, expiration monitoring, and regulatory compliance
- Maintain organized prescription records, pharmacy files, medication documentation, and other required records
- Stock pharmacy supplies and maintain clean, orderly, and appropriately secured medication and work areas
- Communicate and collaborate with pharmacists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to support timely and accurate medication services
- Follow all pharmacy, facility, patient confidentiality, medication security, infection control, and correctional safety procedures
- Perform additional pharmacy technician and administrative support duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current Nevada Pharmacy Technician registration or other credential required to perform Pharmacy Technician duties in Nevada
- Minimum 1 year previous pharmacy technician experience required
- Correctional pharmacy experience preferred; nursing home, long-term care, hospital, institutional, or other high-volume pharmacy experience will be considered
- Experience processing and filling prescriptions and practitioner medication orders strongly preferred
- Knowledge of medication inventory, pharmacy storage requirements, prescription processing, and pharmacy documentation
- Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to communicate professionally with pharmacists, nurses, healthcare providers, and other facility staff
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision after appropriate orientation and training
- Must be comfortable working within a secure correctional environment and following all facility security requirement
