Job summary

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our inpatient pharmacy team in Johnstown. You will participate in medication distribution, prepare and label doses, and support accurate patient data entry to ensure safe, efficient care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician or in training by PA State Board of Pharmacy.
• Experience in hospital pharmacy settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in inpatient and outpatient medication distribution and information management.
• Enter, maintain, and ensure accuracy of patient data in the Pharmacy Department databases.
• Receive and process medication orders, assemble, package, and label doses.
• Assist with inventory management and stock replenishment.
• Prepare and label sterile and nonsterile dose forms.
• Maintain documentation for distributive and compounding activities.

Schedule: Full-time (38 hours per week) | Variable 8-hour shifts + rotating weekends & holidays.

The pharmacy unit plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for patients. The unit is responsible for dispensing medications accurately and efficiently, maintaining comprehensive medication inventory and control, including narcotics and controlled substances. This includes selecting, calculating, measuring, preparing (both sterile and non-sterile), packaging, labeling, charging, and crediting various pharmacy products like intravenous medications. In addition, the pharmacy ensures compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

How you’ll contribute

A Pharmacy Technician who excels in this role will:

• Participates in the in-patient and out-patient medication distribution and information management processes.
• Answer telephones and electronic messages.
• Enter, maintain, and assure the accuracy of all information in the Pharmacy Department’s patient data bases.
• Receive and process medication orders and prescriptions via medication order/entry-locate, assemble, package, and label drug doses (new orders, unit-dose cycle fill, and out-patient prescriptions), deliver completed orders.
• Clarify questionable requests and solve distribution problems.
• Post charges/credits for transactions that are not completed via order-entry.
• Assemble stock orders.
• Extemporaneously package and label doses that require special packaging.
• Prepare, maintain, and file all reports and forms employed for the complete documentation of all distributive and compounding activities.
• Assist in the recording of department statistics.
• Meet performance and educational requirements for the compounding, preparation and distribution of sterile and nonsterile dose forms.
• Assist in the provision of out-patient pharmacy prescription services.
• Participate in the inventory management process (alert buyer to out-of-stock or unusual utilization circumstances, receive orders, restock, perform physical inventories, review inventory for outdated medications and proper storage, etc).
• Learn and competently utilize Pharmacy automated information, distribution and inventory management systems.
• Maintain, neat, clean, orderly work area (unit-dose assembly, IV admixture, passive inventory, data control, library/conference, out-patient, employee facilities).
• Perform hospital-based unit inspections for both inpatient and outpatient patient care areas, including the pharmacy department.

What we’re looking for
