Job summary

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA, is seeking a Nurse Technician to join our compassionate care team. This full-time role involves day or night shifts (6am–6pm or 6pm–6am) and supports our patients with essential nursing assistance and observation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Nurse Aide Program or related training; on-the-job education provided.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
• One year of acute care or long-term care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the Patient Care Team's delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient's spiritual and cultural differences.
• Considers safety, effectiveness and cost in delivering patient care.
• Orients patient and family to room and call bell.
• Obtains initial vital signs, height and weight upon admission.
• Records daily I & O, vital signs, and food intake into the EMR.
• Transports patients safely and in a dignified manner, respecting activity restrictions.
• Establishes positive relationships with patients and families and reports concerns to the care team.

More about our team

We are known for our great teamwork and compassionate nurses. We get many great comments from patients, families and float staff that are on the unit. The manager strives to provide a nice family balance to provide a great place to work for the employees that work on the unit. We have all core staff, no agency or contracted staff with help occasionally from the hospital float pool. We have a 1:8-10 ratio of nurse to patient. We have staff meeting party days every month and every other month out of work get togethers.

How you'll contribute

A Nurse Technician who excels in this role:

• Participates in Patient Care Team's delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient's spiritual and cultural differences.


• Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in delivery of patient care.


• Orients patient and family to room and call bell.


• Upon admission, obtains initial vital signs, height and weight.


• Records daily I & O, vital signs, and food intake into the electronic medical record.


• Transports patients via appropriate means in a safe, dignified manner. Adheres to patient activity restrictions.


• Establishes positive relationships with patients/families and reports patient/family concerns accurately and concisely to appropriate care team members.

What we're looking for

Applicants should possess High School Diploma or GED. Additional requirements include:

• Completion of Nurse Aide Program or experience in related field or will provide on the job education and training


• Basic Life Support or acquire within 3 months of hire


• One year of acute care or one-year long-term care experience preferred


• Certification preferred
