About the Role

Pharmacy Technician at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. The pharmacy unit plays a vital role in ensuring medication safety. The unit is responsible for dispensing medications accurately and efficiently, maintaining comprehensive medication inventory and control, including narcotics and controlled substances. This includes selecting, calculating, measuring, preparing (both sterile and non-sterile), packaging, labeling, charging, and crediting various pharmacy products such as intravenous medications. The pharmacy also ensures compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

How You'll Contribute

A Pharmacy Technician who excels in this role:

• Participates in in-patient and out-patient medication distribution and information management processes.
• Answers telephones and electronic messages.
• Enters, maintains, and ensures the accuracy of all information in the pharmacy department’s patient database.
• Receives and processes medication orders and prescriptions via medication order entry, assembles, packages, and labels drug doses (new orders, unit-dose cycle fill, and out-patient prescriptions), and delivers completed orders.
• Clarifies questionable requests and resolves distribution problems.
• Posts charges/credits for transactions that are not completed via order entry.
• Assembles stock orders.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a current PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification within 1 year of hire or actively pursuing certification (not to exceed an additional 6 months) or licensed practical nurse, and possess a high school graduate or equivalent education.
