Job summary

Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist Pharmacists in processing and filling prescriptions and medication orders.

You will review and enter orders into the pharmacy computer system, maintain inventory, perform sales transactions, provide information on medications and health services, and file third-party insurance claims. Experience with medical terminology and billing is preferred; HI registration within 90 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of pharmacy technical program or on-the-job education preferred.
• Minimum of one year work experience preferred (pharmacy technician/clerk).
• Registration with HI State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician required; if not held, must obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Completion of Medical terminology course preferred.
• Billing experience in medical/pharmacy settings preferred.
• Customer relations experience in person and remote preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist the Pharmacist(s) in processing and filling of prescriptions and medication/medical supply orders. Review and enter orders and patient information into the pharmacy computer system. Process and assist in the maintenance of pharmacy inventory. Perform sales transactions and provide customer/patient/medical staff with appropriate information about medications, health insurance, and other health care related services. File third-party insurance claims on paper and electronically.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

1. 1. High school diploma or equivalent education required


2. 2. Completion of pharmacy technical program or on-the-job education/pharmacy work experience preferred


3. 3. A minimum of one (1) year work experience, preferably as pharmacy technician/clerk preferred


4. 4. Registration with HI State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician required; if not had at time of hire will be required to obtain within 90 days of hire.


5. 5. Completion of Medical terminology course preferred


6. 6. Billing experience - medical billing and pharmacy prescription processing preferred


7. 7. Customer relations - in person and remote interactions with coworkers and staff preferred
