Job summary

OneOncology is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the In-Office Dispensary (IOD) by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications across multiple sites in the Hanover/ Gettysburg area. The role requires careful data entry, insurance processing, and adherence to HIPAA and safety standards.

You will collaborate with pharmacists and patient care teams, handle prior authorizations, verify patient information, and maintain inventory, all while delivering compassionate service to cancer

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
  • All states except Arizona: Applicants must complete a pharmacy technician training program that the State Board of Pharmacy approves in the state you are in or accredited by the ASHP.
  • Arizona Only: Register with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician trainee and pass the PTCE or become nationally certified through the PTCB and register with the State Board.

Responsibilities

  • Manage payor prior authorizations.
  • Work with patient and foundation funding team to ensure access to medications.
  • Process prescriptions electronically and ensure information is accurate and complete.
  • Collect patient insurance and demographic information, including allergies and comorbidities.
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
  • Respond to patients and healthcare providers requests in a timely manner.
  • Retrieve, pour, count, label, and reconstitute prescription medications.
  • Transfer medication to sterile syringes using aseptic techniques.
  • Order, label, count stock of medications, chemicals, and supplies; enter data into computer.
  • Prepare and process medical insurance claim forms and records.
  • Ensure medication recalls are completed according to regulations.

Provides support for the office independently and with minimal supervision. Performs other diverse duties as requested or required under the general and direct supervision of the manager.**Responsibilities:*** Manage payor prior authorizations.* Work with both the patient and foundation funding team to ensure access to medications as needed.* To create a positive and professional first impression for the practice and to show the patients a “we care” attitude.* Process prescriptions electronically and ensure prescription information is accurate and complete.* Collect patient insurance and demographic information, including allergies and comorbidities.* Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.* Respond to patients and healthcare providers requests, answering their questions and referring various inquiries to the applicable staff in a timely and sensitive manner.* Retrieves, pours, counts, labels, and reconstitutes prescription medications.* Transfer medication from vials to the appropriate number of sterile, disposable syringes using aseptic techniques. Pack all medications for delivery to the appropriate location. Price and file prescriptions that have been filled.* Order, label, and count stock of medications, chemicals, and supplies, and enter inventory data into computer.* Clean and help maintain equipment and work areas and sterilize glassware according to prescribed methods.* Prepare and process medical insurance claim forms and records.* Complete reports and send them to applicable team members as required.* Ensure all medication recalls are completed according to rules and regulations.* Check all inventory for the appropriate expiration date and return when applicable.* Maintains logs for registering, return to stock, credits, HIPAA, no safety caps waivers, vouchers/grants, inventory, and special assignments.* Receive payments for prescriptions dispensed and log payments accurately into system.* Additional responsibilities may be assigned to help drive our mission of delivering high-quality and compassionate cancer care in our community, for our community, and by providers who live in our community.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
