Job summary

Kennedy Community Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Framingham, MA to support the pharmacy team under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. You’ll assist with dispensing, labeling, insurance processing and inventory control, ensuring adherence to regulatory and center procedures.

Requirements include a high school diploma and MA Pharmacy Technician registration, plus strong communication skills. Flexible 12-hour weekly schedule with occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pharmacy Technician registration required in accordance with Massachusetts Regulations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in dropping off written prescriptions and picking up filled prescriptions, verifying the correct patient is picking up the correct medication.
  • Enter prescriptions into the computer, adjudicate through insurance, fill and label prescriptions, and follow procedures for medication preparation and labeling.
  • Obtain patient insurance information and verify insurance when applicable; work with pharmacy benefit managers to process rejected prescriptions.
  • Assist in the transfer of prescriptions between pharmacies (certified technicians only) and update patient profiles in the EHR.
  • Maintain inventory, order medications, and manage shelf stock; adapt to fluctuating day/evening/Saturday shifts.

Salary Range: $18.00 - 22.00/Hour

We are currently hiring a Pharmacy Technician based in Framingham MA. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. Pharmacy technicians must function in strict accordance with standard and written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist. Organizational relationships include being directly responsible to the pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy.

Job Summary:
  • Assist patients in dropping off written prescriptions and picking up filled prescriptions, verifying the correct patient is picking up the correct medication.
  • Assist the pharmacist by correctly entering prescriptions, including refills, into the computer, adjudicating through insurance, filling and labeling prescriptions. Operate and use appropriate techniques within systems for storage, preparation, and dispensing of medications and follow the Health Center’s policies regarding medication preparation and labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and purchasing of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
  • Obtain patient insurance information utilizing available resources when required and verifying insurance when applicable.
  • Work with pharmacy benefit managers to process rejected prescriptions through insurances.
  • Assist the pharmacist with the transfer of prescriptions between pharmacies (certified pharmacy technicians only).
  • Updating patient profile information within the designated electronic health record system.
  • Work with all pharmacy staff to maintain correct inventory levels, including the ordering of medications as well as removal from shelves, and inventory correction, of outdated medications.
  • Works a fluctuating work schedule including day, evenings, and occasionally a Saturday shift (9am-1pm).
