Job summary

Dignity Health - Mercy Hospital in Folsom, CA, seeks a Pharmacy Technician to ensure safe and effective medication dispensing under a Pharmacist's guidance. You will support doctors and nurses by delivering accurate prescriptions and maintaining strict safety protocols in a busy acute care setting.

Ideal candidates have hospital pharmacy experience, CA Technician licensure, and familiarity with aseptic IV compounding and narcotics procedures. ASHP-accredited program is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of acute care hospital pharmacy experience or six-week externship at the facility.
• Knowledge of legal restrictions for non-licensed personnel in a hospital pharmacy, medical abbreviations, terminology and calculations, and generic/trade names.
• CA Pharmacy Technician license is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic technique with proper labeling, logging and initials.
• Record measurements on the daily IV shift QA log for accuracy.
• Fill unit dose orders accurately and on time, including extemporaneous compounding.
• Fill Omnicell/floor stock medications accurately and promptly.
• Follow narcotic sign-out and restocking procedures with documentation of discrepancies.
• Meet annual compliance standards in performance measurements.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Pharmacy Tech, you'll help our patients feel better by providing safe and effective medications to them. You'll help our doctors and nurses feel better knowing that you are providing accurate and timely medication to patients.

Every day, you will build trust by being extremely thorough and accurate at all times. Patient safety is your top priority, so you do everything you can to ensure all prescriptions are authentic, prepared correctly both in medication type and dosing, and are dispensed appropriately, under the Pharmacist's guidance.

To be successful in this role, you follow all safety protocols, including those intended to prevent infection, and you keep a clean work area at all times. You are eager to learn or help out in any way needed to keep the pharmacy running smoothly and get our patients their medications.

• Prepares IV admixtures accurately using aseptic technique and properly labels, logs and initials final product.
• Measurement procedure: accuracy documented on daily IV shift Quality Assurance log.
• Fills unit dose orders timely and accurately, including extemporaneous compounding.
• Omnicell/floor stock medications are filled accurately and in a timely manner.

• Measured by compliance per year.

Job Requirements

Required

• One (1) year of acute care hospital pharmacy practice experience or a six (6) week pharmacy technician externship at the hiring facility.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the legal restrictions on the activities of non-licensed personnel in a hospital pharmacy, medical abbreviations, pharmaceutical terminology and calculations, and generic/trade names of medications.
• Pharmacy Technician: CA.

Preferred

• Completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician program.
