Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to help our patients feel better by providing safe and effective medications under the pharmacist's guidance. You will prepare, label, and dispense prescriptions, deliver medications, and support a team of clinicians while maintaining rigorous safety and infection-control protocols.

This role requires completion of a Pharmacy Technician program, hospital pharmacy experience, and California licensure or PTCB

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a Pharmacy Technician program.
• At least 1 year of hospital pharmacy and sterile compounding experience.
• CA Pharmacy Technician license upon hire or eligibility.
• PTCB certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers medications to designated areas accurately and efficiently.
• Fills and bills patient cassettes; processes charges and credits into the computer.
• Fills stock and unit-dose medications, considering patient needs.
• Processes outpatient prescriptions and calls in prescription refills.
• Maintains stock areas and performs IV preparation with sterile technique.
• Competency in IV preparation required within 12 months of hire.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Pharmacy Tech, you'll help our patients feel better by providing safe and effective medications to them. You'll help our doctors and nurses feel better knowing that you are providing accurate and timely medication to patients. Every day, you'll build trust by being extremely thorough and accurate at all times. Patient safety is your top priority, so you do everything you can to ensure all prescriptions are authentic, prepared correctly both in medication type and dosing, and are dispensed appropriately, under the Pharmacist's guidance. To be successful in this role, you follow all safety protocols, including those intended to prevent infection, and you keep a clean work area at all times. You are eager to learn or help out in any way needed to keep the pharmacy running smoothly and get our patients their medications.

• Delivers medications to designated areas accurately and efficiently, including consolidating trips and recognizing priorities
• Fills and bills patient cassettes accurately and efficiently, processes patient charges and credits accurately and rapidly into the computer and delivers and exchanges cassettes efficiently
• Fills stock, Unit dose medications and medication orders accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner taking into account specific patient needs
• Completes outpatient pharmacy functions according to departmental processes which includes but is not limited to: calling in prescription refills to the physician offices and processing take home prescriptions
• Stocks take home area, shelves and medication bins and all areas of the pharmacy
• Conducts IV preparation functions according to departmental processes using sterile technique. Competency required within 12-months of hire. Competency will be required to transfer into a posted position requiring this skillset.
