About Your Role

As a Pharmacy Technician at Stillwater Family Pharmacy, you play a vital role in supporting safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy operations while delivering exceptional service to our patients and community. Working closely with pharmacists and the pharmacy team, you assist with prescription processing, inventory management, and day‑to‑day workflow to ensure a positive patient experience. This role requires attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to teamwork in a fast‑paced, community‑focused environment. Your contributions help ensure our pharmacy remains a trusted healthcare resource for Columbus and the surrounding area.

Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prescription Processing & Accuracy Support
    Assist pharmacists with the intake, entry, preparation, and dispensing of prescriptions by following established procedures and quality standards, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety throughout the workflow.
  • Patient Service & Front‑End Support
    Provide courteous, professional service to patients in person and by phone, including assisting with prescription pickup, answering routine questions, and helping resolve basic issues to support a positive and respectful patient experience.
  • Inventory Management & Medication Handling
    Support medication and supply inventory by receiving, organizing, stocking, and rotating products, monitoring inventory levels, and assisting with ordering and reconciliation to ensure availability and compliance with pharmacy standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
    Perform assigned duties in accordance with federal, state, and company regulations, including proper documentation, record retention, HIPAA compliance, and adherence to pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Team Collaboration & Workflow Coordination
    Work collaboratively with pharmacists, technicians, and store staff to maintain efficient workflow, communicate priorities, and support daily operations in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
    Assist with general pharmacy operations such as maintaining a clean and organized work area, supporting technology systems, and contributing to process improvements that enhance efficiency, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • The position does not have any regular responsibility for overseeing or supervising the work of other team members.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current registration with the Montana Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician or Provisional Pharmacy Technician, in good standing, or the ability to obtain and maintain appropriate registration as required by state law.
  • For certified technicians: National pharmacy technician certification through a recognized certifying body (e.g., PTCB or NHA).
  • For provisional technicians: Enrollment in or completion of an approved pharmacy technician training program or provisional technician certificate, with the ability to meet certification and registration requirements within the timeframe established by the Montana Board of Pharmacy and company policy.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to perform assigned pharmacy technician duties under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, consistent with the technician’s registration status and scope of practice.
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy operations, pharmacy management systems, and basic pharmacy or medical terminology, or the demonstrated ability to learn these skills on the job.
  • Commitment to compliance with state and federal laws, HIPAA requirements, and company policies related to patient confidentiality, safety, and professional conduct.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position is primarily performed in a retail and community pharmacy setting located within a grocery store environment. The work environment includes frequent interaction with the public, use of computers and pharmacy management systems, and exposure to typical pharmacy conditions such as medication storage areas, refrigeration units, and moderate noise levels. Work is performed during scheduled pharmacy hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

The physical demands of this role include prolonged periods of standing and walking, frequent use of hands and fingers for data entry, counting, labeling, and handling medications, and regular reaching, bending, and twisting. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move pharmacy supplies and inventory, typically up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Clear vision, manual dexterity, and the ability to focus on detailed work are essential. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

  • Work Schedule: Requires flexibility to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on needs.
