Job summary

Independent Health in Buffalo is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacy team under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The position is fully onsite with rotating first and second shifts, including a minimum of two closing shifts (1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) per week.

Associates on the second shift are eligible for a shift differential. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, one year of experience in a high-volume pharmacy, and the ability to lift 40 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in a high-volume pharmacy or equivalent setting required.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
• Experience with online claims processing system preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and aptitude for working with other health care professionals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in pharmacy department activities not requiring pharmacist judgment.
• Maintain patient records.
• Set up, package, and label medication doses.
• Process equipment/supply orders and prepare sterile products.
• Package and ship medications; setup/delivery route optimization.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical safety hazards and drug handling.
• Notify Pharmacist staff of dispensing/storage/packaging issues.
• Rotate stock and maintain cleaning of spaces.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
• One (1) year of experience working in a high-volume pharmacy or equivalent setting required.
• Ability to lift 40lbs.
• Experience working with online claims processing system preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and an aptitude for working with other health care professionals.

Essential Accountabilities

• Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist.
• Maintain patient records.
• Set up, package, and label medication doses.
• Perform designated tasks regarding processing of equipment and supply orders, and preparation of sterile products.
• Package and ship medications.
• Setup and optimization of delivery routes.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical safety hazards and drug handling.
• Notify Pharmacist staff of dispensing, storage, packaging, and/or related issues.
• Proper rotation of stock, supplies, packaging materials, and shipping supplies.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the registered and packaging space.
• Must function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist.

Hiring Compensation Range

$22.50 - $24.50 hourly

Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.

In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off.
