Job summary

St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, part of Hartford HealthCare, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support Pharmacists in preparing, dispensing and distributing medications in a hospital setting.

You will refill and maintain automated dispensing systems, prepare orders, manage inventory, repack bulk meds, and assist with education and discharge prescriptions while engaging with patients and staff to ensure safe, efficient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician with CT within 30 days of hire.
• Certification strongly preferred; must be obtained within nine months of hire.
• One year of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Hospital Pharmacy experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Pharmacy Technicians assist Pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing and distribution of sterile and non-sterile medication throughout the hospital. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:

• Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.


• Prepares orders and maintains inventory for the pharmacy department.


• Repackages bulk medications.


• Receives and stores incoming supplies.


• Assists (within scope of practice) with patient and staff education, resident/student training, peer interviewing and coaching, process improvement, and discharge prescriptions.


• Positively interacts with patients and other hospital guests to enhance the quality of case/service provided.

Education

High School Diploma required or equivalent.

Experience

• One or more years experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.


• Hospital Pharmacy experience; strongly preferred

License And Certification

• Must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the CT Department of Consumer protection within 30 days of hire.


• Pharmacy Technician certification strongly preferred; must be obtained within nine months of hire
