Job summary

Sterling Pharmacy in Austin, MN, part of Astrup Companies, is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician. The role supports pharmacists in dispensing, patient counseling, and processing prescriptions.

Typical hours are Mon–Fri 8:30 am–6:00 pm with Saturdays as needed, offering health benefits, a 401(k) with company match, and a profit-sharing bonus. Responsibilities include RX processing, customer service, inventory management, and compliance with federal/state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists with dispensing prescriptions and caring for patients/customers.
• Review patient information on the RX 30 system for accuracy.
• Receive new prescriptions physically from patients and accept refill authorizations by phone or fax.
• Answer the phone promptly and adhere to pharmacy policies and procedures.
• Help ensure accurate billing to Medicaid/Medicare for DME and supplies.
• Manage inventory levels to optimize return on investment and financial performance.
• Counsel patients on new prescriptions and refills and provide excellent customer service.

• This position would be Full time (~30-40 hours/week)
• This is a Monday - Friday position, with occasional Saturday shifts
• Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 6:00 pm & Saturday, 9:00 am - 1:300 pm.

Job Description:

The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for assisting the pharmacists(s) with various tasks related to the filling/dispensing of prescriptions and caring for pharmacy patients/customers.

Core Competencies & Responsibilities:

• Complete necessary pharmacy technician training in a timely fashion
• Complete required continuing education annually
• Review patient information on the RX 30 system for accuracy
• Receive new prescriptions physically from patients
• Accept prescription refill authorizations via the telephone or fax
• Answer telephone in three rings
• Adhere to policies and procedures related to pharmacy operations
• Stay compliant with all statutes, rules, and regulations related to pharmacy practice, both federal and state
• Monitor reimbursement of prescriptions to achieve optimal gross profit margins
• Help manage inventory levels to achieve optimal return on investment
• Represent yourself professionally to the community as a Pharmacy Technician
• Collect all information needed for billing Medicaid and Medicare for DME, supplies
• Help ensure that patients are counseled on all new prescriptions and on any refills
• Be aware of and support promotional activity within the pharmacy and Home Health Care category
• Provide the best possible service to all of our customers
• Accurately count and fill prescriptions for all patients
• Provide accurate/timely service to customers at the point of sale
• Collaborate with team members to ensure everyone is capable of fulfilling all pharmacy related tasks and training other employees
• Create a culture of positivity and excitement in the pharmacy/store
• Adapt quickly to company changes related to policy and workflow
• Clean work area and the pharmacy
• Complete other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements & Work Demands:

• Must be able This position requires repetitive lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling for up to 15 pounds on a regular basis daily
• Must be able to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, kneel, bend and twist for up to 8 hours per day
• Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day
