Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Training to assist pharmacists by handling clerical duties and prescription processing. This on-site role supports QA programs and patient information services in a busy pharmacy setting.

Responsibilities include processing prescriptions, triaging inquiries, maintaining records, and upholding the orderly appearance of the pharmacy. Eligibility requires a high school diploma and Texas pharmacy registration.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Receive, interpret, and enter prescription orders for pharmacist review.
• Support the pharmacy quality assurance program.
• Triage department information inquiries via telephone.
• Maintain confidential records and the appearance of the pharmacy.
• Perform other duties of a certified technician (occasional).

Position Description

Assists Pharmacist by performing a variety of clerical type duties.

Major/Essential Functions

• Receives, interprets, enters into computer, and prepares prescription orders for checking by the pharmacists
• Supports pharmacy quality assurance program
• Triage department information inquiries (answering telephones)
• Maintains confidential records and files
• Maintains order and appearance of the pharmacy

Occasional Duties

• Performs other duties of a certified technician

Required Qualifications

Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. License/Certification: Must be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer service experience to equal 6 mos
• Previous work in a pharmacy setting to equal 6 mos
• Previous experience with point of sale and cash handling
• Can hold a Pharmacy Technician in Training license, with the expectation that employee will become fully certified within that two year time frame
