Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Specialist in Webster, TX to support pharmacists in drug distribution, technical and clinical services for preparation and dispensing of medications.

The role emphasizes advanced skills in a specialty area with campus or system-level responsibilities, including patient-assistance program activities and collaboration with care teams and Revenue Cycle. Strong licensure and several years of technician experience are required.

Qualifications

• Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
• Three years of technician experience with one year in a related specialty field, or one year of technician experience with an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Infusion experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists pharmacists with drug distribution, technical, and clinical services for preparation, storage, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals.
• Performs the job functions of Senior Pharmacy Technologist when needed.
• Collects data and analyzes complex information and prepares precise written summaries for pharmacy leadership.
• Maintains policies and procedures to ensure the department meets legal, accreditation, and certification requirements.
• Manages documentation and records for area of specialty; ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assists with medication access programs and patient assistance to enroll eligible patients.
• Coordinates with Revenue Cycle and care managers to facilitate drug replacement for insured patients with denials.
• Ensures patients are not charged when free drugs are provided.
