Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Specialty Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I to support refill processing and billing under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role focuses on accurate medication refills, documentation, and regulatory compliance within outpatient pharmacy software, with emphasis on patient-centered service and adherence to Ohio Board of Pharmacy requirements.

Location: Ackerman Rd, 600 (2435). Schedule: Regular, First Shift, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Registered or eligible for pharmacy technician registration in Ohio.
• Pharmacy Technician Trainees must submit required documentation to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy 10 business days before start date.
• 0 years of relevant experience required.
• Maintain Registered Pharmacy Technician status with Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician Trainees must obtain Registered Pharmacy Technician status within 1.5 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Duties include receiving inbound phone calls and making outbound calls, selecting medications for refill based on patient requests, billing prescriptions, and electronic documentation.
• The Pharmacy Technician I assists pharmacists in ensuring accurate medication dispensing and regulatory compliance with Ohio Board of Pharmacy rules, state and federal regulations, USP standards as applicable.
• This role supports patient care while promoting a safe and efficient medication-use system.
• Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served, including completing any mandatory education requirements.

Education
