The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Specialty Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I to support refill processing and billing under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role focuses on accurate medication refills, documentation, and regulatory compliance within outpatient pharmacy software, with emphasis on patient-centered service and adherence to Ohio Board of Pharmacy requirements.

Location: Ackerman Rd, 600 (2435). Schedule: Regular, First Shift, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Registered or eligible for pharmacy technician registration in Ohio.
• Pharmacy Technician Trainees must submit required documentation to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy 10 business days before start date.
• 0 years of relevant experience required.
• Maintain Registered Pharmacy Technician status with Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician Trainees must obtain Registered Pharmacy Technician status within 1.5 years of hire.

• Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served, including completing any mandatory education requirements.

Department: Retail Rx | OSU Specialty Pharmacy

Scope of Position

Responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and compliant filling and billing of medications within the Outpatient Pharmacy dispensing software, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Provides high-quality, patient-centered support services to ensure accurate prescription refills, prescription billing and documentation. In collaboration with pharmacists and other pharmacy technicians, assist in maintaining regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and service excellence across assigned practice areas. Maintains active registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and fulfills all continuing education and competency requirements necessary to maintain registration throughout employment. If registered as an Ohio Board of Pharmacy Technician Trainee, completion of the OSUWMC employer-based training program is required, followed by updating registration to Registered Pharmacy Technician status with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Demonstrates professional conduct aligned with hospital and departmental mission, vision, and values.

• Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served, including completing any mandatory education requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age: 18 years
• Registered or eligible for pharmacy technician registration in Ohio.
• Pharmacy Technician Trainees must submit all required documentation to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy at least 10 business days before start date.
• 0 years of relevant experience required.
• Maintain Registered Pharmacy Technician status with Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician Trainees must obtain Registered Pharmacy Technician status within 1.5 years of hire.
• Continues to meet departmental competency requirements and pharmacy standards of employee conduct.
