Job summary

Duke University Health System in Durham, NC, seeks a Pharmacy Technician III specialized in Controlled Substance Diversion Prevention. This role coordinates staff, addresses variances in ControlCheck, and supports education on proper resolution and documentation practices.

Required are a high school diploma with a pharmacy tech program or related education, NC board registration, and PTCB/ExCPT certification, plus two years’ technician experience. Day shift, no weekends; strong teamwork expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program.
• Acceptance into pharmacy school or equivalent combination.
• Two years of pharmacy technician experience required; NC Board registration required; PTCB/ExCPT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in safe medication use under supervision and follow department procedures.
• Coordinate technician staff and activities; handle advanced duties (e.g., automation, sterile prep QA, procurement).
• Focus on resolution of ControlCheck variances; research orders in MaestroCare to identify root causes.
• Educate staff on correct resolution/documentation practices; maintain accurate documentation.
• Create internal reports and serve as a training resource for specialty areas.
• Support policy updates and ensure compliant, safe technician practices.
