Qualifications

Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician III can function independently of the pharmacist (at least 85% of the time) and works in specialized areas, including hazardous sterile compounding, critical care, hematology/oncology, and emergency room.

Job-Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory management of chemotherapy and supportive care medications in the CCBD pharmacy satellite.
  2. Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining integrity of sterile compounding areas.
  3. Functions both independently and in a team environment.
  4. Compounds chemotherapy and related medications with high efficiency and delivers medications throughout the CCBD space.
  5. Triages and streamlines medication compounding to effectively compound high cost and short dated chemotherapy.
  6. Perform additional responsibilities as necessary.

Schedule: Day shift; variable

Experience:

At least 5 years of hospital pharmacy-related work experience is required.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. One-year Vocational / Technical School degree is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

Registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy is required. Maintenance of the CPhT is required. Aseptic Sterile Technique (IV) Certification is required. Chemotherapy Certification within 90 days of hire is required.
