Job summary

HCA Florida Mercy Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to join our dedicated pharmacy team. You will compound and dispense medications, maintain inventory, and update patient records under the supervision of a pharmacist.

You will fill orders, prepare sterile products, handle chemotherapy and hazardous drugs, dispense controlled substances with proper documentation, and help manage stock and workflow across patient care areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of related pharmacy tech experience is required.
• 3 months sterile product compounding experience is preferred.
• ASHP Sterile Preparation Institutional Training Certification or similar is preferred.
• PTCB Certification is preferred.
• State Board of Pharmacy Registration, as applicable by state, is required.

Responsibilities

• Fill medication orders requested by physician or pharmacist, and deliver to patient care and other areas.
• Prepare sterile products, chemotherapy and hazardous drugs, and parenteral products.
• Dispense controlled substances with proper documentation; counting discrepancies and reporting any suspected diversions to the pharmacist.
• Ensure there is an adequate stock of medications and supplies, according to established policies and procedures.
• Assist ordering; receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and related supplies in the appropriate locations, rotating stock and replacing outdated and unusable drugs.
• Pick up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds.
• Organize and prioritizing work assignments; responding timely to urgent and routine requests.
