Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles is seeking a Pharmacy Tech II to ensure medication availability, manage inventory, and obtain accurate patient medication histories.

You will prepare and repackage medications, enter charges for billing, and support staff pharmacists with IV orders while maintaining safety and compliance. This role emphasizes communication, accuracy, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Active California Pharmacy Technician license required.
• Certification preferred.
• 1 year of pharmacy tech experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Answers phones.
• Attend pharmacy staff meetings/in-services.
• Check in and stock orders - Reorder as required.
• Comply with hospital policies.
• Credit returned meds.
• Deliver controlled substances.
• Deliver Meds/Rounds on hourly or as needed basis.
• Enter charges for manual billing needs.
• Fill meds to be checked by Staff Pharmacists.
• Inspect medication storage locations.
• Inventory and refill Floor Stock, Automated Dispensing Cabinets, and Emergency Trays.
• Maintain organized/accurate/sufficient inventory.
• Obtain accurate home medication histories by chart review, patient interview and phone calls to retail pharmacies and physician offices.
• Prepare Accurate/Sterile IV orders.
• Repackage medications - ensure proper authorization.

Education

Active California Pharmacy Technician license

Certification preferred

1 year of pharmacy tech experience preferred
