Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles is seeking a Pharmacy Tech II for a full-time night shift to ensure medication availability and accurate patient histories. You will maintain in-date inventory and prepare sterile IV orders, with responsibilities across charging, repackaging, and audits of storage areas.

The role requires 1 year of pharmacy tech experience (preferred), strong written and spoken communication, and the ability to work under pressure while adhering to policies and patient

• Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures and complies with risk management, safety, security, fire and infection control requirements.
• Answers phones.
• Attend pharmacy staff meetings/in-services.
• Check in and stock orders and reorder as required.
• Comply with hospital policies.
• Credit returned meds.
• Deliver controlled substances.
• Deliver meds/rounds on hourly or as needed basis.
• Enter charges for manual billing needs.
• Fill meds to be checked by staff pharmacists.
• Inspect medication storage locations.
• Inventory and refill Floor Stock, Automated Dispensing Cabinets, and Emergency Trays.
• Maintain safety, integrity and professionalism of pharmacy.
• Obtain accurate home medication histories by chart review, patient interview and calls to retail pharmacies and physician offices.
• Prepare Accurate/Sterile IV orders.
• Repackage medications and ensure proper authorization.

The Pharmacy Tech II ensures availability and delivery of medications to authorized locations/personnel. Maintain in-date inventory of medications. Obtain accurate patient medication history. Prepare and repackage medications accurately. Record and charge supplies/medications to the correct patient/location.
