Job summary

JobRx, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Pharmacy Tech II to ensure availability and timely delivery of medications, maintain in-date inventory, and obtain accurate patient medication histories through chart review and interviews.

You will prepare and repackage medications, enter charges for manual billing, stock and inspect storage areas, and support staff pharmacists by filling meds for checking and processing IV orders while upholding safety and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Active California Pharmacy Technician license required.
• Certification preferred.
• 1 year of pharmacy tech experience preferred.
• Demonstrated communication, project management, and computer literacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Answers phones.
• Attend pharmacy staff meetings/in-services.
• Check in and stock orders - Reorder as required.
• Comply with hospital policies.
• Credit returned meds.
• Deliver controlled substances.
• Deliver meds/rounds on hourly or as needed basis.
• Enter charges for manual billing needs.
• Fill meds to be checked by staff pharmacists.
• Inspect medication storage locations.
• Inventory and refill floor stock and cabinets.
• Maintain organized/accurate inventory.
• Obtain accurate home medication histories by chart review, patient interview and calls to retail pharmacies.
• Prepare Accurate/Sterile IV orders.
• Repackage medications – ensure proper authorization.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Tech II ensures availability and delivery of medications to authorized locations/personnel. Maintain in-date inventory of medications. Obtain accurate patient medication history. Prepare and repackage medications accurately. Record and charge supplies/medications to the correct patient/location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Complies with all requirements related to risk management, safety, security, fire, and infection control. Complies with all applicable state, local and federal regulations
2. Answers phones
3. Attend pharmacy staff meetings/in-services
4. Check in and stock orders - Reorder as required
5. Comply with hospital policies
6. Credit returned meds
7. Deliver controlled substances
8. Deliver Meds/Rounds on hourly or as needed basis
9. Enter charges for manual billing needs
10. Fill meds to be checked by Staff Pharmacists
11. Inspect medication storage locations
12. Inventory and refill Floor Stock, Automated Dispensing Cabinets, and Emergency Trays
13. Maintain organized/accurate/sufficient inventory
14. Maintain safety-integrity-professionalism of pharmacy
15. Obtain accurate home medication histories by chart review, patient interview and phone calls to retail pharmacies and physician offices
16. Other functions as defined/delegated by Direct Supervisor
17. Prepare Accurate/Sterile IV orders
18. Repackage medications - ensure proper authorization
19. Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

A. Education

• Active California Pharmacy Technician license.
• Certification preferred

B. Qualifications/Experience

• 1 year of pharmacy tech experience preferred.
• Demonstrated communication, project management, and computer literacy skills

C. Special Skills/Knowledge

• Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and perform in high-pressure situations
