Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL seeks a Florida-licensed Pharmacy Technician or Intern to assist in dispensing, inventory management, sterile compounding, and IV admixture support under pharmacist supervision for inpatient and outpatient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years of age; Hospital experience preferred.
• Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician or Intern Licensee.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB preferred; sterile products/IV admixture training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity.
• Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs).
• Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately.
• Re-package and label oral medications/extemporaneous preparations and maintain records.
• Respond to STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins.
• Assure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Stock medications into pharmacy inventory, including sterile compounding areas.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas.
• Attend to medication requests and phone calls.
• Prepare simple IV admixtures (excluding chemotherapy/biotherapy) per USP 797/800.
• Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet policies.
• Assist in performing various duties as assigned.

Up to $1,250 SOB for qualified candidates, paid over 24 months.

The individual in this position acts under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and provides assistance in dispensing functions, including: purchasing, inventory control of all drug classes, sterile product preparation and associated equipment maintenance, and automated dispensing cabinet equipment and inventory maintenance. Also performs technical duties to maintain pharmaceutical dispensing functions to all neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including inpatients and outpatients.

This individual’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately.

• Respond appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins.
• Assure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Stock medications into pharmacy inventory, including sterile compounding areas.
• Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas.
• Attend to medication requests and phone calls.
• Prepare simple IV admixtures (excluding chemotherapy, biotherapy) accurately, consistent with IV policies and procedures (USP<797> and USP<800>).
• Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures.
• Assist in performing various duties as assigned.

Qualifications

License:

Certifications:
