Job summary

St. Mary’s Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Pharmacy Technician to assist under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Responsibilities include dispensing, inventory control of drug classes, sterile preparation, and maintaining ADCs and related equipment.

You will prepare medications for neonate to geriatric patients, stock supplies, and respond to STAT and routine requests while ensuring pharmacist oversight and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician or Intern Licensee.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred; IV admixture certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fill and label medication orders accurately with correct strength and quantity.
• Stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) promptly.
• Prepare simple IV admixtures per policy and maintain records.
• Assist in labeling, stocking, and delivering medications to patient care areas.
• Ensure medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Maintain proper inventory and storage of medications.
• Support in responding to STAT and routine orders and department requests.

Job Summary

The individual in this position acts under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and provides assistance in dispensing functions, including: purchasing, inventory control of all drug classes, sterile product preparation and associated equipment maintenance, and automated dispensing cabinet equipment and inventory maintenance. Also performs technical duties to maintain pharmaceutical dispensing functions to all neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including inpatients and outpatients.

Responsibilities

• Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner.
• Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) in a timely manner.
• Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately.
• Re-package and label oral medications/extemporaneous preparations and maintain appropriate records.
• Respond appropriately to requests for STAT orders, routine orders, department requests, and ADC stock out bulletins.
• Assure all medications are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Stock medications into pharmacy inventory, including sterile compounding areas.
• Maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas.
• Attend to medication requests and phone calls.
• Prepare simple IV admixtures (excluding chemotherapy, biotherapy) accurately, consistent with IV policies and procedures (USP and USP).
• Comply with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures.
• Assist in performing various duties as assigned.
