Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise, Idaho is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Technician under pharmacist supervision to support pharmaceutical care, verify packaging processes, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

You will assist in prescription preparation, manage materials and billing, participate in QA activities, and help transport medications to patient areas while staying within scope of practice for technicians.

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacy Technician with Idaho State Board of Pharmacy or Oregon Board of Pharmacy.
• National Certification (CPhT, ExCPT or equivalent) preferred with under 3 years' experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions, including materials/resource management, dispensing, clerical, and billing duties.
• Revenue management: documents services and supplies provided to patients accurately.
• Participates in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities.
• Understands limits of dispensing medications and stays within scope of practice for a registered technician.
• Transports medications to patient rooms or nursing medication rooms.
• Retrieves unused medications from patient rooms or nursing areas.

SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, assists in the provision of pharmaceutical care to various customers by verifying the medication packaging process and outcomes. Practices within the scope of state and federal regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be licensed Pharmacy Tech with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy or Oregon Board of Pharmacy, based on the state worked.
• National Certification (CPhT, ExCPT or equivalent) preferred with under 3 years' experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Assists the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions, which includes various material resource management, dispensing, clerical, and billing duties.
• Revenue management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.
• Participates in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities.
• Understands the limitations to performing certain responsibilities of a registered technician in dispensing medications and remains within the scope of practice.
• Transports medications to patient rooms or nursing medication rooms.
• Retrieves unused medications from patient rooms or nursing areas.
