Job summary

CompleteRx, in collaboration with Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution and IV admixture programs in Tallahassee, FL. Positions are FT or Flex, with schedules 7:30am-4:00pm or 2:30pm-11:00pm.

Qualifications

• Three years of pharmacy experience.
• High school diploma (or equivalent) and completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy approved technician program.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or NHA registration.
• Florida pharmacy technician registration must be current.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose distribution system and IV admixture program under pharmacist supervision.
• Maintain confidential reports and enter/retrieve data in the computer system; prepare IV medications.
• Fill automated dispensing systems with unit-dose meds and stock pharmaceutical supplies.
• Deliver supplies to patient care areas and manage pharmacy automation.
• Assist in training/educating lower-level technicians; pharmacist provides instructions and reviews work.

Required Education:

High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy approved pharmacy technician training program.

Required Experience:

Required Certification/License/Registry:

Responsibilities/Job Summary:

• Under the direct supervision of the Director/Pharmacy, Supervisor/Pharmacy, or a Pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and the intravenous admixture program.
• Responsible for maintaining confidential reports, entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system, preparing intravenous medications (IV) (e.g., chemotherapeutic preparations, hyperalimentations, and antibiotics), filling automated medication dispensing systems with a supply of unit dose medications, procuring and filling requests for pharmaceutical supplies, delivering supplies to patient care areas, and managing pharmacy automation.
• Engages in specialized departmental activities (e.g., documenting medication histories, chemotherapy IV compounding, preparing sterile IV medications, inventorying narcotics, or maintaining pharmacy inventory).
• Assists in training/educating lower-level pharmacy technicians. Direct Supervision. A pharmacist gives specific instructions on all assignments.
• A pharmacist reviews the technician’s work for completeness and accuracy, or the technician performs tasks with inherent checks built in the nature of the work.
